Amazfit Balance Review

Hardware Overview:

Let’s take a closer look at the hardware.

On the left side of the watch, there is nothing except a little opening.

This opening actually has a speaker and a microphone inside, which we’ll talk about in a bit.

Flipping the watch to the other side, we see that we do have two buttons.

There’s a top button, which is also a Digital Crown that you can roll with your finger, and on the bottom, there’s a single side button that’s pretty flush with the surface of the watch.

When we flip the watch over, you’ll notice a couple of things.

First of all, the sensor in the middle is obviously the optical heart rate sensor.

Still, on board, there is a SpO2 sensor, which picks up your blood oxygen saturation, and an internal temperature sensor to pick up the temperature of your skin.

Next, you’ll also notice the included bands are industry-standard quicker releases, so you can pop these off with your fingernail and replace them easily from anything.

Magnetic Charger:

When it comes to charging, the Amazfit balance comes with a USB puck-style charger, which is USB type A, to a proprietary cradle on the end.

It’s a magnetic charger, so it sticks and stays there once you put it on the watch.

Unfortunately, this charger is not the same as the one used by many other Amazfit watches before it.

They use a standard charger for every watch, so you could easily buy replacements.

This one’s totally different, and it may be their new standard.

When it comes to the build quality of this watch, it is 5 ATM waterproof, which means you can dive in a pool with it or swim in the open water.

On top of that, it does have some metal to it, so around the bezel, it has all aluminum, I believe, and on the back, there is plastic, but it all feels pretty darn solid.

There’s nothing cheap about this watch.

Display:

Now, we have talked about the exterior of the watch. Let’s get to the good stuff on the display.

This watch has an impressive display.

It’s 1.5 inches, which is massive; it’s AMOLED, extremely bright at 1500 nits, and has a really high resolution of 480 by 480.

The screen-to-body ratio on this watch is 73%, which is much higher than that of most of the competition.

It also looks really nice on the wrist.

The spec sheet says the glass on this display is tempered glass, but I don’t know how durable it actually is.

It’s not scratched yet.

I’ve been trail running and hiking with this watch, and it hasn’t broken or scratched.

Using the touch screen on this watch is an absolute joy.

It is crazy responsive. There is no lag when you’re swiping around the user interface.

I can scroll through things and dive into menus or go to the app list and scroll around it.

It’s a really smooth experience; everything works really well.

As I said, this display is extremely bright, so you’ll experience mode.

If you scroll all the way up to the top and go back to the watch face, you will see it actually blows because it’s so bright.

Connectivity:

The Amazfit Balance Smart Watch offers impressive connectivity features that enhance its usability and versatility.

One of the standout aspects is its Bluetooth calling capability, which allows users to make and receive calls directly from the watch when paired with a smartphone.

This feature is particularly convenient for those who want to stay connected without constantly pulling out their phone.

Additionally, the watch is equipped with Alexa built-in, enabling voice commands for a variety of tasks.

Users can ask Alexa to set reminders, check the weather, control smart home devices, and more, all through their smartwatch.

This integration greatly enhances the user experience by providing hands-free convenience.

The Amazfit Balance also supports seamless synchronization with both Android and iPhone devices.

This ensures that users can access notifications, messages, and other important alerts in real time.

With over 150 sports modes and health analysis features, the connectivity options allow users to track their fitness journey effectively while staying connected with their daily lives.

Overall, the Amazfit Balance Smart Watch combines robust connectivity features with health and fitness functionalities, making it a versatile tool for modern users.

Performance:

The Amazfit Balance smartwatch truly stands out with its impressive battery life.

On low to moderate GPS accuracy settings, a single charge can keep the watch running for up to two weeks.

Even with heavy daily use, continuous health tracking, and high GPS accuracy activated, the Amazfit Balance still managed to last an entire week, which is quite remarkable for a smartwatch.

The accuracy of the sensors in the Amazfit Balance was surprisingly impressive.

During one workout, we wore the watch alongside a chest-strap heart rate monitor to compare readings.

The Amazfit Balance effectively captured all fluctuations in heart rate, although it wasn’t quite as precise as the chest-strap device, which is understandable given the differences in technology.

We also tested the body composition sensors using a standing bioimpedance machine, which is typically much more accurate than small devices like watches for measuring metrics such as body fat percentage and muscle mass.

It was quite impressive to find that the readings from the Amazfit Balance were closely aligned with those from the machine; for instance, it only underestimated body fat percentage by 1.5%.

However, the body temperature sensor consistently provided lower readings.

Despite this, it was able to detect trends, such as a decrease in body temperature during sleep.
